NOTHING HAPPENS WITHOUT ACTION

"Therefore, prepare your minds for action, keep sober in spirit, set your hope completely on the grace to be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ."

1 Peter 1:13 (NASB)

One of the most recognized names in the business world is that of Dale Carnegie (1888-1955). In the early 1900s, Carnegie began his career as a traveling salesman. It did not take him long to discover there was a science to sales. After much thought and research, Dale Carnegie developed his master course in sales and public speaking along with his classic book (still in print to this day) How to Win Friends and Influence People.

The discovery Carnegie made was not so unique to him. People make this kind of discovery all the time. Have you ever been busy with your daily tasks and thought of a better, more efficient way to do what you do? I am sure you have. So what made Carnegie's idea so famous and yours never leave the idea stage. Dale Carnegie did the one thing all successful people do – he took action.

"Inaction breeds doubt and fear. Action breeds confidence and courage." Carnegie said, "If you want to conquer fear, do not sit home and think about it. Go out and get busy." Here is a universal truth. Nothing, may I repeat, NOTHING happens without action. It takes one great idea to make a million dollars, but a million great ideas will gain you nothing without action to back them up. Your intention can be as pure as fresh snow. You can desire to do it all to the glory of God. But if you do nothing more than think about it, or even worse, talk about it, you will achieve nothing.

Search the Scriptures and see that every man or woman who did anything for God was people of action. They did not spend days and years planning it out and waiting for things to be just right. They did not tell everyone what they would do "someday." They were all people who trusted God, conquered fear, and took action.

God has enough dreamers. He is looking for men and women who will get up and do something. Let that person be you. Forget the fear and face the challenge. After all, how can you fail with the Creator of the universe behind you?
