You Can’t Hide Excellence
"Be so good they
can’t ignore you."
- Steve Martin
Comedian/Actor
I am always
amazed by excellence. That can be in a
performance, a completed task, a book or work of art, whatever. When things are done with excellence you just
can’t ignore them. Success-minded people
are drawn to excellence in all areas of life.
For those who love excellence two things happen: one is that you find it
hard to settle for anything less. The
other is that you are driven to give nothing less from yourself.
Excellence is not
perfection. Those who are driven to be
perfect are never satisfied and find themselves frustrated and disappointed all
the time. Those who seek excellence give
the very best they have. Since no one is
perfect, they are not surprised that they are not perfect either. They give their best and after that, they
strive to do even better. Success-minded
people know that perfection is the top and you cannot grow past it, however,
excellence is a constant state of learning and growth and you can always find
more.
The problem many have with not
being perfect is they stop trying. Since
they cannot be perfect, why go to all the work?
So they stop and settle with mediocre in their lives. No one is attracted to mediocre, so they
never achieve all that they could have if they only tried. However, when you seek to be excellent in
what you do, you will always be changing, learning new things and becoming
better and better. Remember that the
freshest water is always moving. Stagnant
water soon becomes nasty and deadly.
Do you want to become a real
success at what you do? Keep learning
how to do it better. Learn from those
who are excellent in your area. Read,
work and try new things every day. Never
stop. Never give up. Never settles for less than your best. You will know what your best is because it
will bring you the greatest satisfaction and joy of all you do.
