Creating A Monster
Most of us have seen the 1931 film,
Frankenstein with Boris Karloff. After
all, it is a classic! The film is based
on the book of the same name by Mary Shelley.
May I also add, the move is little like the book so I suggest you read
the book, it is well worth it? In the
movie, Dr. Victor Frankenstein builds a man by using the body parts of the dead
he is able to find. That however is not
was really creates the monster. The
monster if created when Frankenstein’s assistant, Fritz, brings back the brain
of a criminal rather than a good brain.
In was not the composite body that was the problem, it was the brain
that made the monster.
In each of us is a struggle between
the good brain and the monster brain. It
is the power of positive thinking and the power of negative thinking. Positive people are those who believe that
there are good things ahead and every problem they face has an answer
somewhere. While negative people think
that things will only get worse and that the problems they face are the fault
of others and they are just victims of the world. The odd thing is, both are right.
Success-minded people have learned
that we create our world by the way we think.
If you believe that you have a charmed life, you will live like one with
a charmed life. If you believe you are a
victim, you will live as a victim. Both
kinds of people live in the same world and see the same things around them;
but, in the words of Henry David Thoreau, “It is not what you look at the
matters, it’s what you see.”
Here is the good news, unlike
Frankenstein, you have a choice about the brain you use. It is up to you if you are going to be
positive or negative. Positive people do
not ignore the bad in the world. In
fact, positive people are the most realistic people there are. They see the evil that is out there, the
problems and difficulties. The
difference is they choose to believe they are bigger, better and brighter than
the problems in the world. They know
that if they have a choice (and they do) to believe the best or the worst, they
choose the best every time.
Think about it. What does being negative get you in the
end? You feel lost, frustrated, and
defeated all the time. What good is
that? Why surrender when you can stand
and fight? The fight is always more
exciting and in the end, you just may win.
Zig Ziglar said, “Positive thinking
will let you do everything better than negative thinking will.” It does not mean you will not face problems,
but with positive thinking you will also find solutions. It does not mean you will not get knocked
down now and then, but with positive thinking you know you will get back up and
go on. Negative thinking robs you of the
ability to win. Why face defeat when you
have the power to choose what you will do and how you will respond to your
life.
The choice is yours. You can be positive, with all the fun and
hope for tomorrow you can handle. Or,
you can be negative where you lose the game before it even gets
interesting. Choose wisely. You are the one who has to live with it.
