I See You

"There are two types of people - those who come into a room and say, 'Well, here I am!'
and those who come in and say, 'Ah, there you are!'"
- Frederick L. Collins

If you saw the movie, Avatar, you will remember the greeting that the Na'vi would say to each other, "I see you".  This was a very powerful greeting to many of us.  It seems at time we live in a world that relates the greeting, "I don't see you" to each other.  It is the old problem of being asked "How are you?" by someone who rushes past without ever intending to hear the answer to their question.

One of the great misunderstanding that has happened to success-minded people is that some think they are self-focused.  We do talk of building confidence and the awareness that you can achieve anything you desire, however that is not an ego or self-focused thinking.  The truth is, real success can only come when we focus on others more than our self.

The well known author of the classic book, Think and Grow Rich, Napoleon Hill said, " Great achievement is usually born of great sacrifice, and is never the result of selfishness."  You cannot have great success without great sacrifice.  The person who's world is center on them self lives in a very small and limited world.

I have always loved the comment made by Dr. John C. Maxwell: "Outside the exception of one, the world is made up of other people."  Not only do we help, care about and give to others, but we learn from them as well.  Every person you meet - every one - has something to teach you.  The problem is never what they have for you but are you willing to receive it.

The ability to appreciate and enjoy other people is a great key to a successful life.  We are all so different and fascinating that every day can be a wonderful adventure.  We can teach each other, make each other laugh and for those who have learned the secret to living with others, you are never alone.

The next time you go out into the world, look around and see others.  Really see them as fellow travelers and companions.  Remember that the universe does not move around you, your feelings or your opinions.  You play one part in a very large display of humanity.  But you do play a part.
