Doesn’t it make you wonder about the human heart when we live in a day that you can talk to people all over the world from a small cell phone, we have been to the moon, transplanted organs, have computers small enough to put on a pin, and yet we do not believe people can accomplish their dreams? I will be honest with you; I do not believe people think a dream cannot be achieved; I believe they don’t want to see them accomplished.

There are people in our lives who are very threatened by our success. You see, if you achieve your dream, they will have to achieve theirs, or at least be challenged to. This is not a new problem; it is as old as humanity itself. Thomas Fuller, Chaplain to King Charles II of England in the 17th century, wrote, “The real difference between men is energy. A strong will, a settled purpose, an invincible determination can accomplish almost anything, and in this lies the distinction between great men and little men.”

“Don’t listen to those who say, ‘It’s not done that way.’ Maybe it’s not, but maybe you’ll do it anyway. Don’t listen to those who say, ‘You’re taking too big a chance.’ Michelangelo would have painted the Sistine floor, and it would surely be rubbed out today.”

Success-minded people must be cautious to whom they listen. Do not allow those who are too lazy or fearful to accomplish their dreams to stop you from achieving yours. Listen to those who believe in you and the fact that you can do anything God has called you to do. Listen to God, who tells us we can do all things through Christ Jesus. If He has given us a dream, He intended us to accomplish it—end of story, no excuses, and no retractions.

Success-minded people are big thinkers. They are possibility thinkers who believe that they and others can do great things. Professor and author David J. Schwartz said, “Big thinkers are specialists in creating positive, forward-looking, optimistic pictures in their minds and the minds of others.” Success-minded people do not hope that great things can be done - they believe it with all that is in them. They believe it so much that they never give up trying to see it happen.

If you need some encouragement in believing your dreams can come to be, search the Scriptures. No one is more encouraging, and no one believes in you more than God does. He believed in you so much that He sent His Son Jesus to die for you so you could fulfill your dreams. With God behind us, how can we ever fail?

“Every good thing given and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with Whom there is no variation or shifting shadow.”

James 1:17
