BUILD IT RIGHT THIS TIME
"Never be afraid
to start over. Look at it as a new
chance to build what you really want."

Failure is a part of life.
There is no shame in failing, only in giving up. The person who does not fail has never tried
to achieve anything. Knowing this is
helpful and a bit encouraging, however, it does take some of the wind out of
your sails when you try your best and fail in the process. When that happens you have only two options
as author Napoleon Hill said, "There's only two options: make progress or
make excuses." Which one do you do
when the hard time come?
Seems
to me that many people react to failure in three ways: one is that they become
tired and discouraged and just give up and go in a different direction. Another is they make excuses as to why they
failed; who is to blame; and why they could have succeeded if things were
different. The third are those who are
success-minded people and know that failure is not fatal nor is it the
end. They understand that if they learn
from their mistakes, think through their strategy and make a new approach, it
can work. These are the people who
achieve their goals and dreams.
It is
important to understand that you cannot change the past. You cannot go back and redo things; you
cannot make it as if it never happened.
What has happened has happened and that is it. You can however, learn from it and become
better than you were before. Once you
understand what you did wrong or should have done differently, you are really
farther ahead of things, not sitting in defeat on the side of the road. All you have to do now is keep moving.
Starting
over is a regular practice of success-minded people. It is a myth that successful people just do
things right or that they are lucky.
Luck has nothing to do with it.
Success comes through hard work, determination and the ability to learn
from mistakes. Most successful people
have started over many, many times. They
let nothing stop them as they are pursuing their dreams. They do not see it as a bad thing for them to
start over. In fact, it means to them
that they have a chance to really get it right this time. I love the words of businessman, Nido Qubein
who said, "Your present circumstances don't determine where you can go;
they merely determine where you start."
The
road to success is a journey that has many unexpected twists and turns. The average person see that as a threat or
obstacle. The success-minded person see
it as an adventure; a "daring adventure" as Helen Keller called
it. The thought of making a mistake or
doing something wrong in an honest pursuit of a goal is welcoming to them. We have all heard the story of how Thomas A.
Edison failed 10,000 times in finding the right filament for the incandescent
light. Edison never saw it as failure
but rather discovering 10,000 things that did not work. He learn, made note so as not to make the
same mistake twice and moved on.
Have
you failed along the road to your dream?
Have you felt that you will never get this right or that you are heading
in the wrong direction? Be encouraged my
friend, you are in good company. All
great successes were first great failures.
Hold fast to your dream, lean from your mistakes and never miss a
step. Start again, and again and again
and if needs be, again. It all makes the
victory of success so much sweeter.
Remember, you can do this. I know
you can.
