Something Borrowed – Something New
Before you start into this asking,
“what about the bride and the wedding?
Isn’t that what you are talking about?”
The answer is no. I guess you
could say I am talking of a marriage of sorts.
It is the marriage of the wisdom and lessons of those who have gone
before us and our learning.
Success-minded people believe and understand that learning from others
who are smarter than they are, more experienced than they are and better than
they are is the real key to all success.
Are you feeling tired and overwhelmed
in your pursuit to achieve your dreams?
Learn something new. Are you
frustrated and feeling like you are in a dead end job with no hope of ever
breaking free? Learn something new. Are you at the end and feel it would be
better to just give up and join the mass of mediocre people who live from one
day to the next? Time to learn something
new.
“Learning something new is a fabulous
way to be refreshed.” Said author and
pastor, John Ortberg. “When work can
grind you down, something about learning a new activity thrills the soul. It
reminds you that the world is bigger than your desk and your to-do list.” There is no better source of energy and
restorative power than the process of learning.
It will work every time.
When we think of learning something
new we are not talking about things no one has ever learned before. This is something new to you. It can be a craft or project that you wanted
to do but have never gotten around to it.
It can be a new technique or process that will help you to be more
productive and develop excellence in your work.
Or, if you are like me, the lessons can be found in a new book (at least
new to you) that will help you to be and live better.
What can you learn new today? Think of things you would love to learn and
create a list. That way, when the time
for refreshing comes you will be ready to get right to it. There is no limit on this process
by-the-way. The learning never stops and
there is always something new to learn.
No matter if you are a teenager – the age we think we already know it
all, or in your 90’s – for those who think they are too old to learn anything
new. There is always something
wonderful, exciting and new just waiting for you.
