A Treasure Map
Nothing used to stir
a young boy’s heart like a treasure hunt. (I believe that it still is the case,
but we seem to have a shortage of imagination these days. But that is a
different issue.) There was excitement following the steps of a treasure map
that take you to a place where you would find riches beyond belief. For the success-minded
person, the treasure is their dream.
Life can be a kind
of treasure hunt. We are given a map (the Bible) and the treasure (our dream),
and we can now start the quest. It takes planning and a great deal of
adventure. You will go places you never dreamed of and do things you did not
think you could. It is daring and dangerous but exciting and irresistible to
the success-minded person.
“All you need is a
plan, the road map, and the courage to press on to your destination.”
Earl Nightingale

You will meet
pirates on the way as well. They are the negative people who will try to steal
your dream. They will give you the wrong directions to throw you off course and
say, “You can’t find it. It was never really there in the first place.” They
will do all they can to drag you down and make you one of them. But success-minded
people will always fight back and resist. You are the hero of this tale, and
you will win.
Treasures come in
many shapes and sizes. Here is how some noted hunters described their
treasures:
“There is more
treasure in books than in all the pirate’s loot on Treasure Island.” – Walt
Disney
“Next to the word of
God, the noble art of music is the greatest treasure in the world.” – Martin
Luther
“If love is the
treasure, laughter is the key.” – Yakov Smirnoff
“Knowledge is the
treasure of a wise man.” – William Penn
What is your
treasure? The hunt is on, and it is out there for you to discover. Pursue your
dream with all you have in your heart. Protect it from the pirates around, you
and enjoy the riches it offers. The dream is waiting. It is not buried deep.
Grab your map and let the adventure begin.
“By wisdom, a house
is built, and by understanding it is established;
and by knowledge the
rooms are filled with all precious and pleasant riches.”
Proverbs 24:3-4
