Responsible Success
Success-minded people
have a great responsibility in life. Since we are learning the ways of a
successful life and what it means to stand for what is good and right, we must
share that information with the world we live in. Not our opinion on things but
the principles of the success-minded person. This is what we will one day
answer for: how we added value to our world. As Mark Driscoll, Pastor of Mars
Hill Church in Seattle, said, “In the end, our opinion does not matter. We will
not die and stand before a mirror to give account.”
This is why success-minded
people need to be involved in their communities and the world God has placed
them in. They should be in business, politics, religious work, community
service, and education. I feel C.S. Lewis put it best when he said, “What we
want is not more books about Christianity, but more books by Christians on
other subjects.” Remember that we are to be a light to the world.
“If we wish to free
ourselves from enslavement, we must choose freedom
and the
responsibility this entails.”

Too often, people,
even success-minded people, think that Christians are only to deal with
spiritual things and leave the “secular world” alone. That is not the command
we have from the Lord. We are to show the world what it means to be a believer
in Jesus Christ by the life we lead. Christians should be the most upright,
honest, caring, and hard-working people in the community. Others should know us
because we live the principles we talk about, not because we insist that others
live by them.
Christianity is not
a religion but a lifestyle. It is who we are, not just what we believe. Do not
allow the world to define you or restrict you. Just be who you are and be an
example of how believers live. Like Paul told young Timothy, we are to show in
“speech, conduct, love, faith, and purity,” an example of those that believe.
We are the only Bible most people will read. We are what most will come to know
as a success-minded person. If it isn’t really for us, if it doesn’t work for
us, they will never accept it.
Our purpose here is
to be an example. We are to be salt and light in a dark and dying world. It is
a big responsibility, but it comes with success. If one of us fails, we all
fail. Together we can see things change for the better. God made us for this
moment.
“The Lord has made
everything for its own purpose.”
Proverbs 16:4
