Four Things That Could Go Right

"Stop being afraid of what could go wrong and start being positive about what could go right."
- Zig Ziglar
(1926-2012) Author / Speaker

Here is a test for you to do right now.  Yes, right now.  Take some paper and draw a line down the center.  On one side title it, "Things that can go wrong" on the other "Things that can go right".  Now, stop reading this and time yourself for 10 minutes and list all the things that can go wrong and go right on your journey to achieve your goal.  Do this now!

Have you done it?  I do hope so.  Here is what I believed happened.  It was easier to list the things that could go wrong than those that could go right.  Am I right?  You most likely have a longer wrong list than a right list.  Some of you may not have anything at all in the right list.  How do I know this?  It is in our nature to think of the negative more than the positive.

Success-minded people know that you have got to deliberately think in a positive way; it will not just happen.  So here is my solution: Only list what could go right.  This is not ignoring the negative, it is focusing on the positive and you will always get what you focus on.

Allow me to help you start your "Things that can go right" list.  I have four things that will happen every time you work to achieve a goal.

1)  You Will Discover Something New
One of the great things about life is that there is always something new around the next corner.  Sometimes you see them coming and work hard to bring them through.  Other time they take you by surprise and you find you have made the discovery of a life time.  However you achieve it, there is always something to discover every day of your life.

Do not be taken in to the common things of everyday life.  Be on the lookout for the uncommon and for the new discovery that is waiting for you.  Some people miss their greatest discoveries just because they were not looking for them.  Success-minded people keep their eyes and their minds open looking for the hidden treasures that life has for them.

2)  You Will Overcome a Problem
No matter what problems you face or how difficult things may seem, as a success-minded person you understand this deeply profound truth: Every problem has a solution!  That is without exception.  That solution may not be easily seen, but it is there.  You must first believe it is there and them you must seek it out.

Those who are overcome by their problems are those who give up seeking the solution.  If you stay focused on what is not working you will not see what is working.  Look for solutions and you will find them.

3)  You Will Learn Something
There is no better place for education and learning than the classroom of life.  For those who desire to learn, each event they face, each person they meet, each problem they tackle has great lessons for them.  Success-minded people are constant students and will learn from everything in their life.

Carry around a note book with you and take notes of the things you learn.  If you do this for just one week, you will be amazed on the amount of information you have taken in.  Even when we fail, make mistakes or come up short, there are wonderful lessons to be learned so we do not repeat something needlessly.

4)  You Will Succeed
Here is the possibility that many people miss when they start out on their journey to achievement: you just might succeed!  In fact, for the success-minded person who is willing to take a risk, work hard and stay with it, success is not only possible, it is inevitable.

Remember the timeless words of Zig Ziglar, "You were born to win, but to be a winner, you must plan to win, prepare to win and expect to win."
