I Need You / You Need Me
"You cannot
succeed by yourself. It's hard to find a
rich hermit."

We have all
hear the term, "a self-made person".
This is referring to someone who achieved their success on their own
without the help of others. Here is a
fact, there is no such animal! No one
has, can or will succeed all on their own without the help of others.
Even the most talented and brilliant
among us do not know and cannot do everything.
As humans, we are all limited in our abilities. This is not a fault in our makeup but we are
like this by design. We were made to
need each other so that together we could grow and become better than we are
alone. There is no shame in needing
others, it is a sign of real wisdom and maturity to know that if we are going
be our best, we need help.
The help we get from others and
give to others varies from person to person, need to need. Sometimes we need the knowledge and know-how
that others have for things that we lack.
Sometimes we need the talents and skills others have that we have not
developed. Sometimes we just need the
encouragement and companionship that we get from friends and family to help us
get through the struggles we face in life.
The fact is this, I need you and you need me if we are ever to succeed
in life.
Success-minded people not only
see this reality but we celebrate it as a wonderful thing. No one enjoys success as much as the person
who shares it with others. No one can
achieve as much by themselves as they can with others to help. I, alone can only do so much, but together
with others there is no limit to what can be achieved.
Only the selfish and foolish
think they can take the journey to achievement by themselves. Only the broken and self-centered even want
to. Success comes to those who can see
the resources they have in others and the wisdom to use that resource. Success is not a win or lose. If I am to win that does not mean you have to
lose. Success means that if I win you
win; if you win I win. My success is
your success and your success is mine.
Be the best you can be by
helping others be their best. A
statement by the late Zig Ziglar is one that I work hard to live by. "You can have anything in life you want,
provided you help enough people get what they want."
