3 Reasons Why Tomorrow Never Comes
"The
unsuccessful, the unhappy, the unhealthy are the ones who use the word tomorrow
the most."
- Robert Kiyosak

"I will
feel more like working tomorrow."
"Tomorrow is a new day."
"Tomorrow is fresh with no mistakes in it." "It is too late today so I will do it
tomorrow." "The sun will come
out tomorrow." And you can add a
dozen sayings all of your own. I like the
one said by President Abraham Lincoln, "You cannot escape the responsibility
of tomorrow by evading it today."
Why is it that we have this idea
that tomorrow has something magical that is missing in today? If there is one reality that success-minded
people know to be true, it is that nothing happens in tomorrow, only today.
I would like to present three
reason why it is not a good think to be putting things off for tomorrow that
need to be done today.
1)
Putting things off leads to disappointment
It does not take a person very
long to discover that tomorrow never comes.
You can only live in today. When
we put things off to be done tomorrow we set ourselves up for disappointment. Most people who are in the habit of putting
things off never get to them at all. If
they find that they must do a task they keep putting off, it ends up being done
at the last minute, it is done sloppily and they are disappointed with the
results.
2)
Putting things off is de-motivating
One of the wonderful things
about an idea or a new assignment is that we get that rush of energy to see it
done. You can see this in people who
have great ideas or dreams they want to achieve. They talk about it with great excitement. They will go on for hours about what they
will do. That is the problem, they talk
and do not do. They keep thinking that
tomorrow they will get started, but when tomorrow gets here they have lost the
energy and allow the dream or idea to be lost.
3)
Putting things off is just plain dumb
The question is simple: Why put
off to tomorrow what you can do - or at least start - today? It makes no sense at all to be putting off
something as important as an idea or a dream so you can think about it, plan
for it, rest or do something else. Success-minded
people must understand that the first ingredient in the recipe for success is
smarts. You have to be smart about what
you do and when you do it. Nothing is
smarter than to take action right off and do the rest of the thinking,
planning, and resting as you go along.
There is an easy answer to this
problem of putting things off for tomorrow; it is to do it today. You do not have to see the whole picture to
get started. Even if you end up changing
course along the way, it is always easier to steer a moving train than one that
is standing still. Nothing happens
without action! Take action today and
tomorrow will be a wonderful day.
