Setting Spiritual Development Goals
The following article is from the
book, Getting Personal: All You Have is
Now: How Your Approach to the World Determines Your Destiny by author and
speaker, John Patrick Hickey. To read

Every
teaching you will ever read on success will tell you the importance of
spiritual as well as personal development. This doesn’t mean that you become
more religious, but that you cultivate an ability to connect with your creator
and with who you were created to be. Martin Luther said, “This life,
therefore, is not righteousness but growth in righteousness, not health but
healing, not
being
but becoming, not rest but exercise. We are not yet what we shall be, but we
are growing toward it. The process is not yet finished, but it is going on.
This is not the end, but it is the road. All does not yet glean in glory, but
all is being purified.”
Some
of the goals
you may like to set here are:
•
Study Scripture
•
Take a course
•
Pray and meditate
•
Become more involved in a house of worship
•
Seek better understanding of your beliefs
The
one difficult area in spiritual development is the timeline. Some things,
like serving God or developing a greater understanding of Scripture, really are
never done and you cannot put a deadline on them. However, it is still good to
add them to a goal list that will cause you to improve and grow on a regular
basis.
Personal development and the achievement of your dream will not happen on
its own. It takes action and that action has to happen now. Click on the Free
