What is your dream job? Is it the one you have now? If so, how can you become better at what you do? Do you want to find another job or start your own business? Then what do you have to do to make that happen and how can you become excellent at your current job? These are some of the questions to ask when looking at your vocational goals. Vocational development is the process of growing and improving your work skills, habits, and ethics. It is becoming great at what you do.

Let’s face it, we all have to work. Success-minded people know that they must work for a living and that sitting around is not an option. Since you have to work, why not do something you love? No one should be in a job they hate. If you cannot find a job you love, create one. As with all things, the only way to change your vocation and make it better is to take action. Even if you are already in the career you love, you must set goals to become better at it. Excellence is always the standard of the success-minded person. As Will Rogers once said, “Even if you are on the right track, you will get run over if you just sit there.”

Vocation development goals could include:

• Do what you have to do to get the promotion you want
• Take a class
• Get more training
• Get on a special team
• Step out and take a risk
• Create your own business

You can set many goals in this area. The key is to stay positive and ask empowering questions, not “How can I get out of here?” questions.

In Success Through a Positive Mental Attitude, Napoleon Hill and W. Clement Stone said, “A person with a positive mental attitude aims for high goals and constantly strives to achieve them.” Aim high, work hard, and you will find great satisfaction in all you do.

Personal development and the achievement of your dream will not happen on its own. It takes action and that action has to happen now. Click on the Free Membership button in the side bar and start your journey to achievement today!
