Always an Answer
If there is any
truth I have learned over the years, it is that every problem has a solution.
Success-minded people know that no matter how bad you think things are, there
is always an answer. Of course, success-minded people also know that those
answers can be challenging to find at times.
Some time ago, my wife and I read about the life of Sir Ernest
Shackleton. In 1914, Shackleton took a crew of 28 men on his ship the Endurance
to Antarctica on an expedition. The ship became frozen in the ice and
eventually crushed by the ice flow. It took two years of the most challenging
conditions, but Sir Ernest made it to a distant whaling station and all 28
members were saved. It is an incredible story of leadership and bravery well
worth the read.
“Visionary people
face the same problems everyone else faces, but rather than get paralyzed by
their problems; visionaries immediately commit themselves to finding a
solution.”
Bill Hybels
Author/Pastor
The problems the crew of the Endurance faced were ones they never thought
would happen. However, Ernest Shackleton knew there was away, and he only had
to find it. Shackleton was known to say, “Difficulties are just things to
overcome, after all.” For those who have the confidence and willingness to
persevere, they will always find the way. Why? Because there always is a way to
be found.
As success-minded people go through life, they will find many challenging
problems in their path. Do not give up and abandon all hope. Take a new look at
the problem, change your thinking and ask a better question. Then you will find
the answer. As the great Albert Einstein said, “We cannot solve our problems
with the same thinking we used when we created them.” Success-minded people
have discovered that to change their thinking can change their life. With new,
creative thinking comes new, innovative answers.
If you look at problems with the understanding that the answer is out
there, you will develop the confidence needed to find that answer. Your
question will go from “How can I survive this?” to “How can I solve this?” The
key is in how you ask the question, not if there is an answer. As author Ayn
Rand said, “The question isn’t who is going to let me; it’s who is going to
stop me.” Once you know there is an answer, all that is left is finding it. You
will be amazed by how easy the answer can be when you ask the right question.
“What shall I say to these things?
If God is for us, who is against us?” – Romans 8:31
