Starting Off Right
Success-Minded
People know that to achieve, you must start on the right foot. The best way to
start is by giving. There is nothing you will do that is more important than
adding value to the lives of others. Adding value helps everyone you come in
contact with, and it will build you up both personally and spiritually.
Success-Minded People know they are here on this planet to contribute, and to
make a difference. They are not here to take from everyone and everything
around them.
The great coach John Wooden said, “It is not a perfect day unless you have
done something for someone who can never pay you back.” So what do you have of
such great value that no one can pay you back? There is excellent value in a
positive and friendly attitude. Success-Minded People know that a pleasant
smile and hello, an act of kindness, or maybe keeping quiet rather than
speaking your mind are all part of the right attitude. A strong positive
attitude on your part can make the difference between someone having a terrible
day or having a wonderful day.
“Every time you smile
at someone, it is an action of love, a gift to that person, a beautiful
thing.” Mother Teresa
Success-Minded People know they must be pleasant to all whom they come in
contact. That, by the way, includes your family and co-workers. You work at
building the reputation of being a kind and giving person. You will be
surprised at how many doors this will open for you, as well as help you be
healthier and happier. Studies have shown that people who have a positive
attitude and are pleasant to others are more robust than those who face each
day with dread and anger.
There is a great old saying that I believe makes the importance of a
positive attitude clear: “All things being equal, the likable person wins. But
all things not being equal, the likable person still wins.” Success-Minded
People know that people cannot help but want to be around a positive, likable
person. Likability will open more doors for you than skill, education, or
experience all together could.
“A cheerful heart
brings a smile to your face; a sad heart makes it hard to get through the day.”
– Proverbs 15:13 (Message)
